ARTISAN COMMUNITY

It takes our artisan makers 1 month to make one 'Milpa' blouse.

These beautiful pieces are handmade San Juan Chamula, in Chiapas, Mexico. The process beings when the cotton manta fabric is cut, washed and dried to pre-shrink prior to embroidery. Designs are made with hand drawing the patterns onto the fabric with pencil. From there, the artisans use a small hoop to stretch the fabric and embroider the designs using selected threads. Each of these garments reflect generations of traditions for these artisans, making each piece a one-of-a-kind work of art.
