Margarita Huipil // Red with White
The Margarita Huipil Dress is hand made in lightweight cotton, by back strap loom. made entirely by hand using a back strap loom. We designed this piece using only two tones of color, highlighting the textures of the cotton manta fabric. The designs are typical of the region with beautiful floral embroidery and geometric shapes acting as stripes.
These looms are tied behind the waist of an artisan like a belt, then anchored to a post, crossing the spools of thread left to right. This piece is entirely hand made by a co-op of women artisans in Oaxaca. A timeless design, with details giving it a 'contemporary-vintage feeling' to be worn by the modern woman.

Measurements are 23"Width x 44"Length
This blouse is created in a 'Universal Size' which fits most women who wear XS to Large. With the dress is designed with an easy flow of fabric that can be cinched with a belt or left to billow with a forgiving drape.
Our model is 5'9 and an XS.
FABRIC & CARE
Due to the intricate hand loomed design, we recommend washing by hand and drying by laying garment flat, no dryer.
ARTISAN COMMUNITY
It takes our artisan makers 1 month to make 1 dress.
These beautiful pieces are handmade in Amuzgos, along the border of Guerrero and Oaxaca, Mexico. The process beings when the cotton yarn is dunked for washing and hung up to dry in the sun in order to pre-shrink before looming. Once the threads are dried, they are hand dyed in natural dyes and dried once again. Once the threads are set up on several looms, artists sit on the ground, tie belts around their waist and begin looming. To loom each panel, the process can take at minimum 2 week. From there, the artisans cut the panels and sew necklines and capped sleeves. Each of these garments reflect generations of traditions for these artisans, making each piece a one-of-a-kind work of art.
