Made on a back-strap loom with bright, naturally dyed, 100% cotton, these traditional 'Huipiles de Telar' are created in remote mountainous areas outside Oaxaca. These two tone caftans have patterns woven within, resembling diamond shapes, florals or birds, all on a lightweight textured cotton. With distinctive piping along the neckline, front and back panels, a single dress can take up to two weeks to make. It's oversized shape allows for a casual and easy fit, which can be belted for a more contemporary look. Each of these pieces express the artistic heritage of the people who create and preserve these important traditions for generations to come.
